Art Takes Over Świnoujście for the 55th Time – FAMA 2025 Is Coming!
From August 18th to 23rd, Świnoujście will once again become the cultural capital of Poland. This will be thanks to the 55th edition of FAMA – the country’s oldest interdisciplinary arts festival, which has been attracting both established artists and fresh creative debuts for decades.
As always, FAMA is a vibrant mosaic of concerts, performances, exhibitions, author talks, and urban art interventions – ranging from music, theatre, and literature to visual arts (including Monika Shaded’s installation "I See How the Wind Blows"). The festival will also feature a competition segment where young artists will compete for awards and the recognition of a jury composed of distinguished cultural figures.
One of the major highlights of this year’s edition will be a return to the legendary Marek Grechuta Amphitheatre. There, the premiere concert "Grzegorz Was Here – From Ciechów" will take place, featuring MIUOSH and a band led by Grzegorz Kowalski and Dorota Mogilska-Błaszczyńska. For the first time, songs from the album OjDADAn – based on previously unreleased music by Grzegorz Ciechowski – will be performed live.
The lineup also includes performances by Paulina Przybysz, Izzy and the Black Trees, and Hania Derej – last year’s winner of the Tryton Award, a distinction granted in Świnoujście for outstanding achievements that contribute to the city’s social and economic vitality.
Literature lovers can look forward to the Places of Literature series, featuring appearances by writers such as Łukasz Orbitowski, Weronika Murek, and Michał Tabaczyński.
Theatre will also have a strong presence, with Misza Czorny’s contemplative “slow” production "Ashes. Millennium", Sebastian Słomiński’s phenomenal monodrama "Mad Dog", the inspiring play "Actors Anonymous", and the moving story "KAMAN KAMAN" – based on Szczepan Twardoch’s short story "Masara", exploring the meaning of life and the fight against stereotypes.
All of this creates an extraordinary, multidimensional creative space – full of passion, talent, and fresh ideas. FAMA is a festival that lives through the city and its people – inviting everyone to experience art in a multitude of ways.
