History of GLAR

Glar, or luminous

The name of our hotel, Glar, derives from the name of the sacred horse of the tribes inhabiting the area of Wolin and means “Luminous”. It is a symbol of our commitment to preserving and promoting local culture and history, which is reflected in every aspect of our business. The interiors of the hotel include artistic elements such as a unique mosaic in the main hall or a unique children's playroom inspired by the historical settlement and the animals living in the region. Local artisans, performers, historians and archaeologists as well as specialists in local cuisine were involved, thanks to which the hotel can learn about the flavors of Wolin and feel the rich history of the island of Wolin. The whole reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding nature, and at the same time it is a tribute to the cultural heritage of the region. The Glar Conference Hotel & SPA has an impressive two-storey restaurant with a solid wood round staircase and a sunny terrace overlooking the lake. On the top floors there is a SPA with an outdoor terrace and a swimming pool with artistic mosaic tiles and impressive views.

How we care for the environment

At GLAR Conference & SPA Hotel, taking care of the environment is a priority in every aspect that concerns the service of guests and a matter of respect for the location in the Wolin National Park area. Below we present to you the most important solutions that are used in the Hotel:

  • The installation of central heating and power supply of ventilation heaters is fed from ground water and water type heat pumps. In order to ensure economical operation of the facility, in addition to the use of heat pumps, a system of solar collectors is used for the preparation of domestic hot water.
  • Photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Hotel are used as an additional power source for the electrical system. Additionally, the facility has a grey wastewater treatment plant used after the filtration process as grey water used for toilet tanks.
  • The hotel is equipped with energy-saving electrical appliances, LED lighting, motion sensors, thermal insulation and air conditioning, and the whole is administered by an intelligent energy management system.
  • Solutions aimed at saving water are implemented, including water flow limiters in bathroom faucets or toilet with two flush buttons. In addition, towels are washed only on request. The irrigation system of green areas uses rainwater - we store it in reservoirs and use it for watering.
  • In the SPA department, we use Phytomer cosmetics to perform treatments, which belong to products obtained from the sea from marine algae (green, black and red), and their packaging is made from 100% recycled.
  • In all areas of the Hotel's activity, the number of waste is minimized and all are segregated accordingly. Special containers are available in each room, which are also available in the public areas of the Hotel. Thanks to a special device, we reduce the volume of some waste.
  • We use biodegradable cleaners and ecological laundry. All products have the appropriate certificates and approvals.
  • In office work, we use paper and recycled materials, and the number of printed documents is limited to the necessary minimum. Communication with guests is also carried out in a similar way, and most of the information is transmitted in the form of convenient QR codes.
  • In the kitchen, we use products from local suppliers that are fresher and healthier, and for most of them we are introducing a short supply chain. Local producers often use organic farming methods, eliminating harmful pesticides and chemical fertilizers. We promote a healthy and balanced diet, we also minimize the amount of food thrown away.
  • The car park has a charger for electric cars, which provides fast and efficient charging and emissions-free driving.
  • During their stay, guests use reusable products that are environmentally friendly and stylish, such as wooden access cards to the rooms. Plastic elements are kept to a minimum or replaced by ecological solutions such as paper straws or biodegradable packaging.
  • The surroundings and location of the Hotel allow you to contemplate the beauty of nature in peace. The hotel is surrounded by a lake and forest that invite you to hiking and cycling.


How can you help?

Rational water management:

  • Turn off the water when brushing your teeth or shaving.
  • Choose shorter showers instead of long baths if possible.
  • Report any leaks to the service.

Energy Saving:

  • Do not open the windows when the air conditioning is on.
  • Disconnect chargers and other electronic devices from outlets when you are not using them.

Responsible use of towels and bed linen:

  • If you want the towels replaced, leave them on the floor. Towels hung on a hanger signal that you want to use them again.
  • Think about whether you need fresh towels every day. Longer use reduces the consumption of water and energy needed for washing.

Segregation of waste:

  • Use waste segregation containers if available in a room or on hotel premises. Be sure to segregate plastic, paper, glass and mixed waste.

Respect for nature and surroundings:

  • While walking in Wolin National Park, stick to the designated trails.
  • Do not pluck plants and do not burn animals.
  • Don't clutter up your surroundings - take all your waste with you.
